Being a photographer for the Winnipeg Folk Festival I am lucky to be able to witness a lot of wonderful musical moments each year, and 2016 was no exception.  Though my visual mindset is usually focused on capturing these moments through still photography, since being added to the festival’s social media team I also periodically switch gears and capture raw, behind-the-scenes videos of these sorts of folk fest moments.

A promo video of sorts for the Idea Spark iOS app.

I’ve been thinking of doing a promo video showcasing the Idea Spark iOS app for a while, but I just couldn’t decide how I wanted to do it.  The current trend amongst startups is to release glossy marketing videos with upbeat music, but in all honesty I am personally very tired of this sort of communication between creators and their customers.  Seeing something generic like that has very little impact on my own saturated senses, and I figure I’m not the only one.

Pecha Kucha Winnipeg

Pecha Kucha Winnipeg is an evening of presentations aimed at creatives by creatives.  It has a unique format of 20 slides per speaker, with only 20 seconds allowed per slide to keep things lively and to the point.  Pair this format with the huge variety of speakers and you can pretty much guarantee that you will be entertained and inspired.
